BEEKEEPING

50% Complete

Status: Ongoing

Description

Dabaso Youth for Green Future’s Beekeeping Project is one of our initiatives for creating sustainable livelihoods for young people while supporting the conservation of our coastal environment. Through the project, we are developing a community-managed apiary that enables youth to gain practical skills and participate in beekeeping as a viable income-generating enterprise.
Our work goes beyond keeping bees for honey. We are building the capacity of young people in bee husbandry, apiary management, honey harvesting, value addition and entrepreneurship, while creating opportunities for them to benefit from the growing honey value chain.
As a youth organization working within a mangrove and coastal ecosystem, we also recognize the important role that bees and other pollinators play in maintaining healthy and productive ecosystems. Through our beekeeping activities, we promote greater appreciation and protection of pollinators and the natural habitats that support them.
Our vision is to grow the project into a sustainable youth-led honey enterprise that creates income and employment opportunities, strengthens local skills and contributes to environmental conservation. By connecting livelihood development with conservation.

Objectives

1. Create and strengthen sustainable livelihood opportunities for at least 50 young people through beekeeping, honey production, value addition and participation in the honey value chain by 2030.
2. Build the capacity of at least 30 youth by 2030 in modern beekeeping, apiary management, honey harvesting, quality control, financial literacy and entrepreneurship, enabling them to contribute effectively to the management and growth of the project.
3. Expand Dabaso Youth for Green Future’s apiary from its current capacity toward at least 50 beehives by 2030.
4. Establish and strengthen systems for honey harvesting, quality control, packaging, branding and marketing, enabling the project to generate increased revenue for reinvestment, youth opportunities and long-term organizational sustainability.
5. Integrate pollinator protection and environmental conservation into the project by engaging participating youth and community members in awareness and practical actions that promote the protection of bees and the natural habitats that support them.
